Looking through the lens of our Declaration of Independence, you will understand why America is different from all other nations of history. Immersed in the teaching of Scripture our founders appealed to the laws of nature and of nature’s God, a higher authority than any earthly king.

Our second president John Adams declared that the American Revolution “connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.” All 13 of the original state constitutions refer to Almighty God as the author of liberty or declare reliance upon the hand and mercy of Providence. Biblical principles in the Declaration included “self-evident truths”, such as all men are created…by their Creator and that we are blessed with certain God given rights.

In conclusion the 56 signers appealed to the Supreme Judge of the world…with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence. This was the foundation and the raison d’être (reason for being) of our great country.

Something has happened. America of today has lost touch with the roots of its heritage. To recover the quality of life we once knew we must rediscover the ideals and values that made us exceptional. Then teach and restore them into the next generation. Cf. Psalm 78:1-8

When one honestly searches through America’s past, as we do in this study, it becomes clear that America’s earliest founders were professing Christians, and our foundational documents expressed a Christian worldview. When the declaration of Independence was being signed in 1776, Samuel Adams declared: “We have this day restored the Sovereign to whom all men ought to be obedient. to whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven, and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His kingdom come.”
